A Metro Nashville Police Officer was upgraded from critical to stable condition Friday afternoon after he was reportedly shot by a woman during a traffic stop. It happened around 9:30 Friday morning. Officials say East Precinct Officer Josh Baker was investigating a car whose owner had six outstanding warrants. The person driving the car was the not owner. It was 31-year-old Nika Nicole Holbert. Officials say at some point, Holbert fired at Officer Baker and he fired back. Holbert reportedly drove off after the shooting and then crashed. Both the officer and the suspect were critically injured and taken to nearby hospitals. Holbert died from her injuries. Officer Baker was listed in stable condition following surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Authorities did on immediately release a possible motive for Ms. Holbert to shoot Officer Baker.
