Tax collections for the latest period remain strong according to Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster. Sales tax collections for the General Purpose School Fund came in at $977,133 which is $128,753 above projections. Year to date the county has collected $5.8 million and are $554,000 above budget estimates. Foster says the increase in sales tax revenues is due in part to a recent third-party revenue audit and that adjustments may be made to allocate the adjustments appropriately. Property tax collections year to date are at 63.8% of budget compared to 62.0% at this point last year.
