The regular season came to a close for the Stone Memorial High School and the Cumberland County High School basketball teams Friday night.
Stone Memorial traveled to Sparta to play District games against White County. The Lady Panthers fell to the Warriorettes on a last second shot, 45-43 the final. The Lady Panthers drop to 6 and 2 in the District and finish in a three-way tie for the top spot in the District standings with Cookeville and White County. Overall the Lady Panthers are now 20 and 4 this season. The Warriors slipped by the Panthers 64-58. The Panthers finish at 4 and 4 in District play and 9 and 11 overall this season.
Cumberland County entertained Clarkrange Friday night. The girls game went to the visitors as the Lady Buffaloes posted a 55-34 win over the Lady Jets. The Lady Jets finish the season with a 17 and 11 record and they were unbeaten in District play at 8 and 0 and will be the top-seed in the District Tournament. The Jets posted a win over Clarkrange, 68-37 the final. With the win Cumberland County improves to 13 and 12 this season and the Jets were 6 and 2 in District play and will be the two-seed in the District Tourney.
Next Up: SMHS will play in the District 6AAA Tournament with the action airing live on Mix 99.3. CCHS will compete in the District 7AA Tournament. The Lady Jets will host a semi-final game on Tuesday (2/16) at 7:00 and the Jets will play their first Tournament game Thursday (2/18) at 6:00 as they host Bledsoe County in the semi-finals. CCHS games are on 102.5 WOW COUNTRY.
