Monterey Police Department Press Release:
On Monday September 28, 2026 at approximately 4:30pm, Monterey Police Department Officers were dispatched to the area of Elm St. and Peter Ave. for reports of a “Demolition Derby” happening in the street.
Once the officers arrived in the area of the call, they saw a vehicle that was described in the call attempting to flee the area at a high rate of speed. The officers attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle, but the driver failed to stop. They pursued him to Harristown Rd. where he stopped and was taken into custody.
Mark A Whited was taken was transported to the Putnam County Jail where he was booked in and is currently under a total bond of $78,144.00. He was charged with Evading Arrest and his warrants for Juvenile Attachment, Capias for Failure to Appear or Pay and Violation of Parole were served on him.
