Family Feud Leads to Assault Charges

Two men face charges after a family dispute at Express Towing escalated into an assault and a car crash, according to Crossville police. Authorities say 29-year-old Javier Simmons slapped his step-grandfather during an argument, prompting employee Roy Jernigan, 50, to intervene and threaten Simmons with a pair of scissors. Simmons retreated to his car, at which point Jernigan rammed the vehicle with his pickup truck while Simmons’ wife was still inside. Simmons’ wife then hid a handgun to stop him from shooting Jernigan. Jernigan was charged with aggravated assault, and Simmons was charged with domestic assault.
