No Increase For Cumberland County Property Taxes

The Cumberland County Commission passed the 2026–2027 budget on Monday during a special called meeting, holding the property tax rate at just over $1.13 per $100 of assessed value. The budget includes a 2.5% pay raise for county employees and funding for a new patrol officer and a full-time Veterans Service Officer. However, County Mayor Allen Foster urged caution moving forward. To balance the books without raising taxes, the county is dipping heavily into its reserves. Foster warned that using reserves for regular operating costs could drain the county’s savings quickly if adjustments aren’t made next year. All commissioners were present for the vote except Commissioner Patterson, who is recovering from broken ribs.
