Cumberland County’s June unemployment was 4.4%, up 0.6% from May and down 0.5% for the same period in 2025.
The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development said the annual summer break, which temporarily sidelines many school employees such as bus drivers, cafeteria workers, and custodial staff, contributed to an expected increase in jobless rates in 94 of Tennessee’s 95 counties in last month.
Cheatham and Sevier counties recorded the state’s lowest unemployment rates for June at 3%.
Perry County had Tennessee’s highest unemployment rate in June at 6%.
