The Algood Police Police Department has issued a Wildlife Alert after a black bear was spotted in Putnam County near Dogwood Lane and Phillips Cemetery Road. The bear has been seen going through trash and moving through nearby neighborhoods.
At this time, the bear has not displayed aggressive behavior. However, for your safety and the safety of others, we ask the following:
Do not approach or attempt to interact with the bear
Remain indoors if the bear is in your immediate area
Bring pets (cats and dogs) inside until the bear has moved on
Secure trash and remove any food sources that may attract wildlife
Encounters can become dangerous if the animal feels threatened or is approached.
