Suspects Sentenced to Life Without Parole in Trooper Adam Cothron Shooting in Putnam County

Two men convicted of shooting Trooper Adam Cothron during a July 2024 traffic stop in Putnam County, Tennessee will spend the rest of their lives behind bars.  Trooper Cothron survived the attack which caused paralysis and severe nerve damage. In March, Timothy Laquan Davis, Jr and Braze Roland Rucker were both convicted of Attempted First Degree Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer and multiple other offenses.  On Friday, May 15, 2026 both Davis and Rucker were sentenced to life without the possibility of parole.  According to District Attorney General Bryant C. Dunaway, this is the first case in Tennessee where Life without parole was imposed for the crime of Attempted First Degree murder of a law enforcement officer.
