SNAP Benefits for November May be Unavailable if Federal Government Shutdown Continues

By Ronni Chase Oct 21, 2025 | 9:20 PM

The Tennessee Department of Human Services has received notification from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (USDA FNS) that, if the federal government shutdown continues, federally-funded SNAP benefits for November will be unavailable.

Benefits for October were issued as normal.  However, if the federal government shutdown continues, benefits for November may not be issued.

If you are a current SNAP household and have received notification to submit renewal information or to participate in a SNAP Quality Review, please continue to do so.

Tennessee Department of Human Services staff will not have information on SNAP benefits beyond October.
