Cumberland County’s August Unemployment Rate Down 1.0% From July

Cumberland County’s August unemployment rate fell a full percentage point from July to 4.2 percent.  August’s rate is also down 0.4 percent from the same time last year. 

All of Tennessee’s 95 counties saw a drop in their unemployment rates from July to August, with 90 counties reporting jobless rates of less than 5% last month.

Sevier County had the state’s lowest unemployment rate for the third month in a row at 2.7%.

Perry County reported the state’s highest unemployment rate for the month at 5.4%.

Tennessee’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in August was 3.6%.

The national unemployment rate for August was 4.3%.
