In an effort to reduce contraband and increase security, the Tennessee Department of Correction is transitioning from physical mail to scanned, digitized personal mail for inmates at Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Facility, Women’s Therapeutic Residential Center, and the women’s facility at Bledsoe County Correctional Complex. Personal mail must now be sent to an off-site location where it can be processed and scanned. Inmates can view their personal mail via their TDOC-issued tablets. Personal mail sent to these three correctional facilities after August 1, 2025, will be returned to sender. Privileged mail, such as correspondence from attorneys and government agencies, should continue to be sent to the facility where the inmate is incarcerated. For more information on how to send mail to an inmate at one of these facilities see the Tennessee Department of Correction website.
