Sheriff Casey Cox is alerting the community about a recent scam where fraudsters are using the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office logo to deceive residents. These scammers are pretending to be officials from the Sheriff’s office in an attempt to extract personal information or money.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will never ask for personal or financial information over the phone, via email, or through text messages.
If you receive a suspicious call, email, or text claiming to be from from the Sheriff’s office, do not give out any personal or financial information. Hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office directly at 931-484-6176.
If you suspect you have been targeted by this scam, report it immediately to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Cox urges everyone to be cautious of any communication that creates a sense of urgency or demands immediate action.
