Flags at the Tennessee State Capitol will fly at half-staff on Friday in honor of Knox County Deputy Tucker Blakely. Deputy Blakely, age 29, died Monday (10/2/23) after he was shot Sunday while responding to a domestic disturbance. His passing has hit the Law Enforcement Community especially hard. On Facebook, Sheriff Casey Cox and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office wrote:
“Deputy Blakely’s tragic loss while responding to a domestic violence call deeply saddens us. His bravery and sacrifice will never be forgotten. As a United States Army veteran and a dedicated law enforcement officer with two years of service, Deputy Blakely exemplified honor and selflessness.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, son, and brother during this difficult time. We stand with you, ready to offer support and strength.
Rest easy, Deputy Blakely, we have the watch.”
Blakely’s celebration of life is set for Friday at 2 p.m. The public is welcome to attend and Blakely will lie in state at Clear Springs Baptist Church starting at 10 a.m. on Friday.
