A TBI investigation has resulted in the indictment of a former Overton County School Resource Officer on sexual offenses against a minor. On December 7, 2022 the DeKalb County Grand Jury returned indictments charging 39-year-old Dustin James Farris, of Sparta, with sexual battery by an authority figure and three counts of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor by electronic means. The investigation began in July of this year. Farris surrendered himself to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department on December 8th and was booked on a $100,000 bond. (Photo courtesy TBI)
