Get Ready For Tennessee’s Sales Tax Holidays

Tennessee’s traditional sales tax holiday on clothing, school supplies and computers begins at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2022, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2022.   During this time clothing that costs $100 or less per item, school supplies with a purchase price of $100 or less per item, and computers priced $1,500 or less may be purchased tax-free.  Certain restrictions apply.  Items sold online are also eligible.  Items must be purchase for personal use, not for business or trade.

Tennessee’s sales tax holiday on food & food ingredients (grocery sales tax suspension) begins at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, and ends at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. The food tax in Tennessee is 4%.  The Food Sales Tax Holiday does not alcoholic beverages, tobacco, candy, dietary supplements, and prepared food.
