The Tennessee Department of Health and Substance Abuse Services have announced that the recent National Prescription Drug Take Back Day in Tennessee was a huge success!  Across the state over 18,000 pounds of prescription medication was collected by 102 participating agencies.  Keeping unwanted or unused prescription medication in your home poses the risk they may fall into the wrong hands.  Medications should never be thrown in the trash nor should they be flushed down the drain.  And you don’t have to wait until National Prescription Drug Take Back day to get rid of such medications.  The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department has a special collection bin in the lobby that is available for such disposals around the year.  Help keep your home and our community safe by properly disposing prescription medications.
