Country Music Hall of Famer Ralph Emery Dies At 88

Ralph Emery, known as the “the dean of country music broadcasters” died peacefully Saturday from natural causes.  He was 88.  Emery began his career in small market radio stations in Tennessee and gained fame as the late night disc jockey on WSM in Nashville.  He became a household name and helped to launch the careers of numerous entertainers with his syndicated television music series, “Pop! Goes the Country”, from 1974 to 1980.  Emery was inducted into Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007 and the National Radio Hall of Fame in 2010.  Funeral arrangements had not been announced as of Monday.
