K9 Joker Recovers From Gunshot Wounds, Returns To Work

By Ronni Chase Dec 21, 2021 | 2:22 PM

A Bradley County police dog that almost died after he was shot while in pursuit of suspects is back on the job. On Tuesday, the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office said K9 Joker has been cleared to return to work with minor restrictions.  Joker, a Narcotics and Tracking K9, suffered numerous life-threatening injuries in the September 2022 assault, including injuries to his jaw. He has been on a feeding tube since he was shot and in  November his caretakers were still worried Joker would not survive.  But in the last several weeks, K9 Joker has shown remarkable progress. His feeding tube has been removed and he is currently on a soft diet. The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office says they are thrilled that K9 Joker is able to return to work with his partner, BCSO Deputy Eduardo Choate, and they hope the police dog is with the Department for as many years as he is comfortably able to do so.
