The Chattanooga Police Department has issued a warning regarding an Economic Impact Payment email scam. The email looks like it is sent from the IRS and says the recipient is eligible to receive a tax refund of $563.80. The email has further instructions on how to submit a claim. THIS IS A SCAM. The IRS will not send emails telling you to submit records in order to receive money. Anyone who receives such an email should not open it and do not click on any links provided in the email.
