A Sparta man faces a host of charges after he allegedly fled while officers attempted to serve him with a warrant. According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Garry Heath Selby ran out of the back of a residence on Old State Highway. Selby eventually halted when he ran into a briar thicket. Selby reportedly kicked an officer in the face as he was being apprehended. He was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Drug believed to be heroin. He was also charged with Assault On An Officer, Violation of Probation, Failure to Appear and Resisting and Evading Arrest. His bond was set at $10,000.
