In the middle of the night Saturday, Tennessee’s GOP-controlled General Assembly passed numerous measures to curb COVID-19 protections, but stopped short on threats to ban mask mandates by businesses after Ford Motor Company voiced concerns. Ford recently unveiled plans to build a $5.6 billion campus near Memphis and Tennessee lawmakers have approved a nearly $900 million incentive package for construction of the West Tennessee factory. Mutliple other businesses and groups also said a ban on mask mandates could negatively impact them financially.
