Sales tax revenue up over $1 million from last year

Revenue from sales tax spiked by over $1 million for the year to date totals. According to City Manager Greg Wood, collections for the year totaled just over $9.7 million. The tally for last year at this time was at $8.6 million. Tax collections for wholesale beer totaled $760,455 for the year, an increase of almost $87,000 over the previous year. Income from liquor sales is lagging behind with the year to date total at just under $50,000, down from the previous year’s high of $53,911. Collections from the hotel occupancy tax saw their highest figure yet, with just under $23,000 collected for the latest reporting period.
