TEMA and FEMA will begin joint preliminary damage assessments today (Monday, August 23, 2021) in Tennessee’s flood-impacted counties. The Tennessee Dept. of Health has confirmed 16 weather-related fatalities in Humphreys County, however, most news outlets are reporting that 22 people have died.
A boil water alert remains in place for the city of Waverly as crews continue work to repair water line breaks and restore service. Multiple bridges and roadways in the impacted area are still closed. Telecommunication services are gradually being restored. Local power outages are down to 3,000 in Humphreys County, 170 in Hickman County, and 100 in Houston County. Electrical power is fully-restored in Dickson County. The American Red Cross reports 93 shelter occupants overnight.
Officials say that while they appreciated all the donations of food, hygiene and clothing items, they have more than enough to supply the needs of the victims. If you want to help, please make monetary donations to reputable non-profit organizations.
