Cumberland County’s Active COVID-19 Cases Up 72 on Monday, August 16, 2021

Cumberland County’s active COVID-19 cases grew by 72 on Monday, August 16, 2021 to 488.  Total cases went up by 130 to 7,678.  Deaths remained at 146.

Statewide, positive cases went up by 13,349 to 954,610 on Monday, August 16, 2021.  Deaths increased by 45 to 12,986.

On Sunday, Tennessee hospitals only had 10% of ICU beds and 12% of hospital beds available for patients. Several major hospitals not only have a shortage of available beds but staffing issues as well.  The Tennessee National Guard will begin supplementing hospital staff this week.

On Monday, Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey said people should not go to the emergency room unless it is a true medical emergency.
