The reopening of part of the I-40 bridge between Tennessee and Arkansas has been moved up to the night of Saturday, July 31, 2021.  It was set to partially reopen on Monday, August 2.  Officials say the contractor is ahead of schedule and the eastbound lanes will now reopen this weekend to limited traffic.  The Tennessee Department Of Transportation says the westbound lanes are still scheduled to reopen on August 6, but that could also be moved up.  The bridge was shut down on May 11 after a crack was discovered in a steel beam that threatened the bridge’s structural integrity.
