The Tennessee Department of Transportation says the I-40 bridge between Tennessee and Arkansas likely will not reopen until early August. Contractors are progressing on the phase three repairs. This work will likely push the project into the first part of August in opening the bridge to traffic. The I-40 bridge was shut down May 11 after inspectors found a crack. All interstate traffic in the Memphis area is being diverted to I-55.
