The Cumberland County Commission, in regular session on Monday, voted to appoint Deputy Property Assessor Sandy Gilbert to the head position. Gilbert will be in that position until next year when an election will be held to fill the remaining two years of the term. Gilbert was chosen from a field of 14 applicants. The position became available after the untimely death of Lori Powell in May.
