The I-40 Bridge over the Mississippi River could remain closed for up to two months for temporary repairs. On Tuesday, inspection crews discovered a structural crack and shut down the Hernando de Soto Bridge, which is a major traffic crossing between Memphis and Arkansas. Mississippi River traffic below the bridge has been allowed to resume with some restrictions. Officials say the interim repair would allow time for a new bridge component to be fabricated to replace the bridge’s damaged 37’ long section.
