By Ronni Chase Jul 26, 2026 | 9:32 PM

Sunday afternoon, members of the Doyle Volunteer Fire Department, Central View Volunteer Fire Department, Hickory Valley Volunteer Fire Department, and the Sparta-White County Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to South Fork Road after reports of an injured person along the Calfkiller River.

The patient was located on the riverbank and was suffering from a compound fracture to the leg.

Due to the challenging terrain, the patient had be carried up steep stairways and then over steep rock steps.

The patient was brought to a safe location and transferred to an awaiting air medical helicopter and flown to a regional trauma center for treatment.
