A Norfolk Southern train derailed Thursday afternoon in Morgan County prompting evacuations in the Shady Grove area of Lancing. Officials in Morgan County said 15 to 20 cars went off the track in a ravine. Four to five of those cars were hauling ethanol which caught fire. It was determined shortly after that the burning ethanol posed no hazard and the evacuation order was lifted. Forestry crews remained on the scene to prevent the spread of the fire and local and state agencies are assisting Norfolk in mitigation and cleanup efforts. The cause of the derailment was not immediately identified and no injuries were initially reported. (Photo courtesy TEMA)
