The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office says a suspect deliberately drove into a creek on Tuesday (6/9/2026) to avoid being served outstanding warrants. According to a press release, Daniel James Poore fled from an attempted traffic stop. Deputies pursued and the Oliver Springs Police Department set up spike strips. To avoid the strips, Poore turned off the roadway and drove directly into a creek. The suspect exited the vehicle and got down in the water and that’s where he was taken into custody. Poore was served his warrants for Criminal Conspiracy, Burglary, and Contempt of Court. Additional charges have been added as a result of the pursuit.
