Monterey Police have charged a man in the burglary of the former Perdue facility. Police were called to the plant Monday morning (June 1, 2026) after two employees saw a suspect inside the building and noticed several items were missing.  Police cleared the building and located numerous items that had been piled up by the exit doors. Their investigation led them to Robert Wayne Phillips who reportedly admitted to the crime during an interview.   Mr. Phillips was arrested and was taken to the Putnam County Jail where he was booked on charges of Burglary, Theft of Property and Vandalism.  His bond was set at a total of $87,500.
