Special Forces Vet Wanted For Shooting Wife Found Dead, Stewart County Sheriff’s Office Says

A multi-day manhunt has ended for a retired Army Special Forces Veteran wanted for shooting his wife during a domestic altercation.  On Wednesday, the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office SWAT, along with TBI agents, located the body of 53-year-old Craig M. Berry. Initial indications show the suspect died due a self-inflicted gunshot wound.  Berry was wanted for the attempted second degree murder of his wife on May 1, 2026.  U.S. Marshals said Berry had extensive military training and he was considered armed and dangerous.
