Fentress County Sheriff Addresses Situation Involving Inmate Absentee Ballots

Fentress County Sheriff Hunter Fowler has released a statement saying that he was made aware of a situation involving inmate absentee ballots at the Fentress County Jail. Sheriff Fowler said it is his understanding that “the Election Commission identified the issue, followed guidance from the Tennessee Division of Elections, and corrective action was taken to ensure the inmates were able to properly and legally cast their ballots in accordance with state requirements. This matter is being addressed, and any necessary review of procedures will be handled through the proper channels.”  Sheriff Fowler did not explain just what the issue was but did state he takes “the integrity of our election process very seriously.”
