A Putnam County woman has been charged with Criminally Negligent Homicide in the death of 7-month-old Gabrielle Alonzo in Monterey.
According to a press release from District Attorney General Bryant C. Dunaway, 69-year-old Linda Charlene Stevens admitted that her plan was to drop the child off at his daycare, but she did not. Once the baby was secured in his car seat in the vehicle, Linda Charlene Stevens drove to the public library in Monterey, TN where she worked. She entered the building and began her work day. She left the child secured in her locked car from 8:00 am until approximately 4:00 pm. when she received a telephone call from a family member asking about the child’s whereabouts.
The child was found in her vehicle deceased.on April 15, 2026.
On Friday, April 24, Linda Stevens was booked into the Putnam County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
