Over 135,000 Still Without Power in Tennessee on Wednesday

As of 3:30pm Wednesday (1/28/2026), over 135,000 customers were still without power across Tennessee following last weekend’s winter storm.  Davidson County had the majority of outages  where more than 102,000 were still without electricity.

Tennessee Valley Authority reports all high-voltage lines connecting its supply of electricity to local power companies have been restored. The last remaining line in Mississippi was returned to service Wednesday morning.  TVA said it will continue follow-up work to repair non-critical damage and remains closely coordinated with local power company partners as they complete repairs to their distribution systems and restore service to remaining customers.

The response from multiple agencies and utilities has been tremendous.  On Facebook, the Cumberland County Highway Department reported going to Hinch Mountain on Tuesday to provide assistance to VEC by clearing multiple trees brought down during the ice storm. This enabled them to resupply electricity to the aviation towers on top of the mountain.

After working diligently to get the power back on in our area, 16 Volunteer Energy Cooperative linemen headed to the community of Pickwick in Hardin County to help with restoration efforts.  VEC said they are incredibly proud of their crews and grateful for their commitment.
