A Texas truck driver was lucky to escape with no injuries after crashing on I-40 in Cumberland County Saturday evening (1/24/2026). The wreck happened around 5:20pm near the 330 westbound mile marker in Crab Orchard as the interstate began to ice over. According to the THP, 63-year-old Everest Kanife, of Texas, lost control of his tractor trailer in a curve, traveled off the road, went through a guardrail and struck an embankment. The semi then rolled to a final rest in the median. TDOT Smartway reported the truck jackknifed. No charges are pending.
The accident happened about an hour after another tractor trailer jackknifed near the eastbound 341 mile marker in Roane County.
