Public Notice: Fentress County Sheriff’s Office Activates Emergency Weather Response Plan
Due to worsening winter weather and deteriorating road conditions across Fentress County, the Sheriff’s Office has activated its emergency weather response plan. Our focus remains on protecting life, supporting emergency services, and maintaining public safety during this weather event.
Operational Priorities
•Life-threatening emergencies and high-risk incidents will be prioritized.
•As roads become icy, snow-covered, or impassable, response times may increase and some areas may be temporarily inaccessible.
•The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with Dispatch, EMS, Fire Departments, Highway and Utility partners to address road hazards, closures, and access issues as conditions change.
Call Response During Hazardous Conditions
•Be aware of possible increased response times due to road conditions.
•Drivers involved in non-injury crashes should safely take photos and move from the roadway to a safe area to avoid any future accidents on scene.
Safety, Readiness & Resources
•Patrol vehicles are fueled, equipped, and prepared for winter operations to ensure continued emergency response capability.
•Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel. If travel is unavoidable, use extreme caution, reduce speed, and allow extra space for emergency vehicles.
Overnight Warming Facility
•First Baptist Church of Jamestown will be operating as an overnight warming facility for those in need due to the cold temperatures.
If you or someone you know needs a warm, safe place overnight, please utilize this resource.
Weather and Road Updates
•For ongoing updates and additional information, listen to WDEB Radio and follow official Fentress County Sheriff’s Office channels.
Please stay off the roads whenever possible and continue to monitor local updates as weather conditions evolve. Your cooperation helps keep everyone safe.
