A new law pertaining to repeat domestic violent offenders goes into effect on January 1st (2026). Named for Robertson County Deputy Savanna Puckett, who was killed by her ex-boyfriend, Savanna’s Law (HB1200) mandates a public registry for “persistent domestic violence offenders.” Under the new law, anyone with a prior domestic violence conviction who is convicted again, must register with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. Tennessee will be the first state to have such a registry for domestic offenders.
