Cumberland Plateau Water Authority manager, Jeff Dyer, spoke to Crossville City Council members during their quarterly retreat at Crossville City Hall on Tuesday. Three members of council were present to hear Dyer outline the goals and reason for the authority’s formation. Dyer emphasized that no one was forcing the city to join, that the CPWA was seeking, at minimum, a partnership to help provide water to all of Cumberland County and the region. He also acknowledged there are still many logistic and personnel matters to work out if the city were to turn over water assets. The CPWA recently took over operations of the Crab Orchard Utility District. Dyer says the authority is negotiating with South Cumberland Utility District as well as West Cumberland Utility District. However, during the October session of the Crossville City Council, Jessie Iles, Vice President of WCUD made a plea to council to consider a merger with the City of Crossville.
