Brown Elementary Put on Temporary Lockdown Monday Morning

Brown Elementary was put on a temporary lockdown Monday morning (5/5/2025) after law enforcement was notified of an individual walking along Dunbar Road near the school who may have had a handgun.

In response, the School Resource Officer (SRO) took immediate action. The school was put on lockdown and additional law enforcement units and the director of emergency and security were dispatched to the area, which was thoroughly searched.  No evidence has been found to indicate any direct threat to the school, its students, or staff.

Kindergarten registration for Brown Elementary has been rescheduled to next Monday, May 12, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Brown Elementary School Incident Update

This morning, law enforcement was alerted to a report of an individual walking along Dunbar Road near Brown Elementary School who may have been in possession of a handgun. In response, the School Resource Officer (SRO) took immediate action, and additional law enforcement units and the director of emergency and security were dispatched to the area.

As a precautionary measure, Brown Elementary was placed on a temporary lockdown while officers conducted a thorough search of the vicinity. At this time, no evidence has been found to indicate any direct threat to the school, its students, or staff.

All Brown Elementary families were promptly notified of the situation and updated as new information became available.

We thank our students, families, and staff for their cooperation, patience, and understanding as we prioritized the safety of our school community. We remain committed to maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment for all.
