Weather-Related Deaths Climb to 16 in Tennessee

On Tuesday (10/8/24), the state Department of Health confirmed 16 weather-related deaths in Tennessee.  That brings the death toll to 8 in Unicoi County, 3 in Washington County, 2 in Cocke County, and 1 each in Greene, Knox County and Johnson counties.

On Tuesday, the TBI reported they are actively looking for 9 missing people, which includes 5 reported missing in Greene County, 3 in Unicoi County and 1 in Cocke County.  TBI says these numbers do not represent the total of unaccounted individuals.

As of Tuesday, October 8, 2024  FEMA has approved more than $3.1 million for disaster assistance for 192 households in Tennessee.
