Crossville Police Announce New “Soft” Interview Room

By Ronni Chase Oct 5, 2024 | 4:29 PM

The Crossville Police Department recently renovated one of its interview rooms to create its first soft interview room, thanks to funding from the Trauma Informed Community Alliance (TICA).

A soft interview room is a comfortable space designed to put interviewees, specifically victims or survivors, at ease. The room features velvet chairs, a bright rug, and a fresh coat of paint, all aimed at improving interactions with traumatized crime victims.

The soft interview room is a critical component of Trauma-Informed Care. The Crossville Police Department says the room  allows survivors to feel physically and emotionally safe, potentially resulting in better recollection of details of traumatic events, which will help Detectives make more arrests.
