Crossville PD Warns Of Gift Card Scam For Alleged Donations To Hospitals

By Ronni Chase Jun 4, 2023 | 10:15 AM

The Crossville Police Department has issued a warning involving a gift card scam soliciting donations for hospitals.  The scammers call, text or email asking for donations by way of gift cards for the hospital and its employees. The Crossville Police Department says “if you are asked to purchase gift cards to pay for goods, services, donations or repairs, it is most likely a SCAM. Your local hospital will never ask for donations and if you owe for services, they will not accept Google Play cards or restaurant gift cards. NEVER PROVIDE GIFT CARD INFORMATION TO ANYONE OVER THE PHONE. There will be no way to recover your funds, that’s why they want you to use untraceable gift cards.”
