A woman accused of abandoning her 5-year-old autistic child on a dead-end street in Ohio earlier this year has been sentenced to six months in a correctional center. Heather Adkins, age 33, pleaded guilty last month to Child Endangerment. According to prosecutors, Adkins drove from Indiana to Tennessee to drop of two of her three children with a friend. On the way back, she allegedly dumped her son on a dead-end street, about 75 miles from her home. The boy, who is nonverbal, was spotted by passing motorists as he tried to wave down cars in the rain. Cops caught up to Adkins at a gas station in Kentucky. She claims she never meant to her son. Adkins will receive substance abuse and mental health treatment while in lockdown. Once released, she will be on probation for three years and the judge has also ordered her to stay away from her son.
