According to a report from Crossville City Manager Greg Wood, the city netted just over $1 million for the latest collection period. That figure is a twenty percent increase over the same period last year. Collections for the wholesale beer tax remained steady for the period bringing in almost $72,000, while income from liquor sale dropped due to a reduction in the percentage of tax received from 8 to 5 percent. State law dictates that percentage based on population. Counties with a population of less than 60,000 may collection 8 percent, while populations over 60,000 collection 5 percent. Collections from the hotel occupancy tax were at their highest point so far with collections for the latest period at $24,535.
