Tennessee Pipeline Ruptures, Massive Oil Spill

By Ronni Chase Jul 8, 2022 | 11:24 AM

Officials have been cleaning up a huge oil spill after a pipeline ruptured in rural West Tennessee more than a week ago.  The State Department of Environment and Conservation says the pipeline ruptured June 29, dumping approximately 201,600 gallons of crude oil, which entered Horse Creek in Henderson, some 88 miles northeast of Memphis.  So far there have been no reports of contaminated drinking water and no fish kills observed.   This is the second-largest recorded crude oil spill in Tennessee.
