A woman who filed a lawsuit after claiming a Hamilton County Deputy baptized her in a lake in order to get out of an arrest has been found dead at a residence in Soddy-Daisy.  The body of 42-year-old Shandle Marie Riley was discovered at a home on Log Cabin Lane. The Hamilton County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy and, according to WTVC,  the TBI has also been requested to investigate Riley’s death.  In 2019, the case made headlines when Riley sued Hamilton County Deputy Daniel Wilkey  claiming he baptized her against her will in Soddy Lake after a traffic stop. Deputy Wilkey, who resigned, also faces criminal charges, WTVC reports. Riley’s lawsuit is ongoing and will be continued on her behalf by her eldest child.  Riley was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, April 18, 2022 on unrelated drug charges.
