Crossville Cruisers’ to go back to Main Street

The Crossville City Council, in regular session on Tuesday, approved the Crossville Cruisers’ original street closing request. The Council had voted earlier to move the event to the area behind the Cumberland County Courthouse, but after a plea from the club and despite some business opposition to the Main Street location, voted to grant the request. At least one business owner reported losses of $800 to $1000 each Saturday of the event, while the Cruisers’ maintain that the show contributes to sales for those businesses that choose to be open during it. Council voted 4-1 to grant the closing of Main Street on the fourth Saturday of each month beginning in April and running through October. Council also approved street closures for the Friday at the Crossroads event to be held the first Friday of each month, April to December.
